SewerVUE is pleased to announce a partnership with PICA (Pipeline Inspection and Condition Analysis) at No Dig 2011. PICA provides accurate measurements of remaining wall thickness in cast-iron, ductile-iron and steel pipelines. Their unique, patented technology can “see” through liners, scale and tubercles to detect graphitization and pitting, erosion and cracks, using electromagnetic technology. Their tools have equal sensitivity to wall-loss regardless of whether it is on the inside or outside of the pipe.

Groundbreaking GPR Software Development for Pipe Penetrating Radar

This new software interpretation module allows users to open an existing processed PPR scan profile and also open another parallel scan profile measured at an adjacent clock position. Both profiles can accommodate back and forth scrolling and resizing. Unique as well, is the ability to open the appropriate “snakeskin” CCTV and apply the layer to a model. The final feature that will enable engineers to clearly see the existing conditions of the pipe is the auto-picking and transparent draw capabilities that allows viewing of the original GPR data and the SewerVUE interpretation simultaneously.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SewerVUE Completes In-Pipe Radar Scans in Salt Lake City

SewerVUE’s parent company, Terraprobe Geoscience Corp. was hired by Carollo Engineers P.C. to undertake a high frequency ground penetrating radar (GPR) survey to investigate four interior joints of the 60-inch unlined RCP raw water Davis Aqueduct owned by the Weber Basin Water Conservancy District in Layton, Utah. This was a time critical project with the primary water supply shut down for several days for 500,000 people, about 1/4 of the state’s population. The line was dewatered and District staff removed repair clamps at the joints prior to the GPR survey. The purpose of the survey was to map pipe wall thickness, rebar configuration, ascertain the joint configuration and locate any voids outside of the pipe. GPR data successfully confirmed the rebar configuration and wall thickness in the four surveyed joints. The owner was pleased with the progress of the inspection and maintenance work overseen by Carollo’s infrastructure team that they called the local news station, KSL (NBC Affiliate) who ran a feature story of the project. SewerVUE was privileged to be a part of the story, and also to unveil the principles behind man entry Pipe Penetrating Radar.

Meet SewerVUE at Primm, Nevada at Tri-State Conference, Sept. 28-30

SewerVUE is pleased to be included with the Inuktun USA outside booth (#607) at the 26th Annual Tri – State Seminar On-The-River. The exhibit hall will open at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday night. The Tri-States seminar, affiliated with the Arizona Water Association, Nevada WEA, and California WEA, expects more than 2500 attendees. Gordon Henrich, SewerVUE VP Sales and Marketing will be in attendance in Booth #607. Please drop by to discuss Pipe Penetrating Radar!

In March 2010, SewerVUE Technology Corp. completed beta testing its proprietary “Pipe Penetrating Radar Data Interpretation Application (PP-RADIAN).” This was highlighted in the March Newsletter. Since then, SewerVUE has completed an enhancement of this software that enables presentation of the in-pipe GPR (Pipe Penetrating Radar) data to be displayed in longitudinal crosssections that are correlated to lay flat CCTV inspection sections. The clock positioned GPR scans are presented with color coded interpretations over the actual data scans.

Voids are readily identified to the viewer in both longitudinal distance measurements and clock position from within the pipe. The enhanced reporting capability is displayed in the attached illustration. SewerVUE is further developing GIS mapping capabilities that will reveal the location of voids identified by GPR technology in plan view to assist risk analysis for pro-active pipeline maintenance.

SewerVUE selected for BCTIA “Most Promising Pre-Commercial Technology” Awards
SewerVUE In-Pipe GPR Technology has been selected by the British Columbia Technology Innovation Council (BCTIA) as one of the three finalists for its prestigious “Most Promising Pre-Commercial Technology Awards”.

The 2010 finalists for the Technology Awards are forging new markets with technologies that allow inspectors to see into concrete to determine the state of aging infrastructure…

SewerVUE Surveyor unveiled at No-Dig 2010 Trade show
The SewerVUE Surveyor robot was on display from May 2-7 for the first time at the No-Dig 2010 trade show in Chicago, IL, giving the 1600 plus attendees a unique opportunity to see how Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology has been adapted to create “Pipe Penetrating Radar” or PPR.

As a result of the Trenchless Technology Conference and Trade Show, we were provided with additional uses for the technology. Because PPR can “see through” non-ferrous pipes it can detect the presence of metal outside a pipe wall, and can accurately locate various types of repair couplings or sleeves, as well as reinforcing in thrust restraint and anchor blocking. This will assist in identifying unforeseen obstacles encountered in pipe bursting projects. Another potential use for PPR will be to confirm grout placement in sliplining and segmented liner applications.

SewerVUE at GPR 2010
SewerVUE will be attending GPR 2010 in Lecce, Italy from June 21 to 25. GPR 2010 (International Conference on Ground Penetrating Radar) is the biannual conference for developers, manufacturers and users of GPR technology, and will be hosted at the University of Salento.
